Layering expressive brush strokes with vivid oil paint, I turned a pesty Colorado weed into a celebration of life and beauty!
Titled Pretty Bull Thistle, this piece was inspired by local Colorado open space - wild and vast. Filled with uncivilized paths and pastures and glorious wild flowers and "weeds." It's amazing how pretty the weeds can be.
The Thistle is considered a noxious weed by the Colorado Advisory Committee and is continuously managed as not to take over. The plant can often get to 6ft tall with pretty pink or purplish flowers. It blooms from July - September out here. It's actually in the Sunflower family.
This delightful piece adds a splash of color, imagination and whimsy to any wall it adorns.
This Original Abstract Oil Painting is 6 inches x 6 inches on Archival Hardboard. It's unframed now but is easy to put in your favorite frame. Or pop over to your local frame shop so they can do it for you! Painted in Colorado, USA
